Data Center Refresh Provides Optimal Functionality for Technology-Driven Business
As an industry leader in online incentive management software tools and services worldwide, this client firm manages hundreds of incentive-based Websites for customers that include members of the Fortune 500. As a technology-driven business, it is mission-critical that the client’s own infrastructure performs at optimal functionality without the potential for disruption. Cognizant of the importance of this integral aspect of its operations, the client recently turned to MicroAge for a data center refresh and address other technology elements.
Aware that its existing SAN (storage area network) was aging as needs were expanding, the client’s IT Director contacted MicroAge’s Jimmie Buchanan to present options for consideration. As Jimmie notes, “To determine the best solution, we first conducted an on-site visit along with Dell’s Chris Floyd to consider the SAN, and my colleague Darren Wishman, ASP, VCP, CCN and MicroAge Solutions Engineer, joined us to address various virtualization and VMware options.” The site visit proved to be very important as it revealed that the client was also interested in financing its technology purchases, which Jimmie coordinated on its behalf with Dell.
Ultimately selecting a Dell EqualLogic SAN, two Dell R710 PowerEdge servers, upgrading VMware licensing for more processors, and refreshing all Microsoft Server 2010 and Exchange software licensing, the client both strengthened and simplified its technology selection and spend by partnering with MicroAge. From initial consultation through to financing, the relationship with MicroAge facilitated a complete solution. Dell Senior Storage Engineer Chris Floyd says, “Working with MicroAge adds tremendous value for clients. The Solutions Experts are industry veterans with proven expertise in information technology who know which solutions will achieve optimal outcomes.”
Since the data center expansion and refresh, Jimmie has provided the client with approximately 30 Dell laptops loaded with Microsoft products for new employees, and is currently consulting on upgrading its network infrastructure, specifically in the arena of firewall protection. As Jimmie comments, “We really took a comprehensive approach to this solution…Partnering with Dell provided the client with support in online training and provided a single point of contact for nearly all their data center requirements.”
Since MicroAge has such well established partnerships with manufacturers, developing such an inclusive solution to meet technology needs is both a standard response and a singular advantage for clients.
