Recently, MicroAge’s Dave Siebler orchestrated a solution that combined both hardware and managed services. Working with a managed services partner, Dave developed a tailored solution for a client in the higher education field. The client, a provider of professional administrative services specializing in financial aid, student support, finance and accounting, required assistance in its overall facility move of 150 data users as well as specific support services for its data center. As the Vice President of IT communicated to Dave, it was essential that the move be as smooth as possible to ensure that the company’s core business not be significantly disrupted.

Dave recalls that engaging an outsourced services partner provided the client with a comprehensive moving plan, supported by the expertise to eliminate downtime. As he says, “We moved all data center equipment to the new building and then set up, installed, and made the new connections with all necessary network changes. This was accomplished prior to the employees moving over to the new building and was seamless to them and their operations. In addition, managed services provided support for 30 days after the move to ensure any potential issues were quickly resolved.”

Dave was able to provide this client with a data center relocation solution that minimized disruption and maximized productivity in a very short time frame. Going forward, he continues to work with the client to address future hardware needs. As MicroAge continues to maintain positive partnerships with outside resources, clients are assured of receiving a new and unique level of service as may be required.
